This is rural Texas and we've got all the Texas great events.
Try our local County Fair on the third weekend of May for great music, food and fun carnival rides, as well as some surprises like racing and swimming pigs. Our Giddings Rodeo happens in April and the exciting Bull Riding Events stir up excitement on the 4th of July. The Grimes Street Music Fest kicks off the July activities with an old fashioned music-and-street-dance.
See all of our wonderful attractions in Giddings.
From the 1899 County Courthouse and right next door the Lee County Museum, located in the 1878 Schubert-Fletcher House. We love our military and first responders in Giddings, so check out the Veterans Honor Memorial at Veteran's Park and the 911 Memorial at the Fire Station. There are many wonderful murals in town, including the Depression Era mural inside the Post Office and the "Businesses of Giddings" mural in its parking lot. This particular mural has 12 hidden items in it, can you find them all?
Giddings is full of history and heritage.
Visit the Wendish Museum and St. Paul's Lutheran Painted Church in Serbin (Giddings) to learn about our early settlers from Germany, or the grave of Wild Bill Longley the notorious gun man who had to be hung three times in the Giddings Cemetery. You can also see the largest arrowhead collection in the state of Texas at our Giddings Library as well as a baseball display of Hilton Lee Smith, a hometown hero from the Baseball Hall of Fame.
