Ashley’s Attic caters to diverse shopping interests with a wide variety of unusual gifts, apparel and home décor items. The shop originally opened in 1991 in Houston, but owner Laurie Jurk and her husband, Russell, moved back to Giddings in 1994. After three months of renovating a historic home, Laurie reopened the shop there in September 1996, introducing an even wider selection of antiques, collectibles and home décor items. When customers first walk in, they have been heard saying, “Wow, great shop,” which prompted Laurie to adopt that statement for the shops internet address. Ashley’s Attic named after Laurie and Russell’s first-born child, offers a relaxing place to browse distinctive merchandise, including Willow Tree figurines, Sid Dickens Memory Blocks, Corkcicle and a wide variety of crosses. A constantly changing inventory entices home decorators, while fragrant candles from Aspen Bay, Greenleaf and Tyler lend their pleasing aromas to the store.
