Winedale Online Talk: “Juneteenth – A Celebration of Emancipation”
February 20th at noon

Sharon Gillins, genealogist, and research associate at the Mary Moody Northern Endowment in Galveston, will recount the story of how freedom came to Texas more than 2 ½ years after the effective date of the Emancipation Proclamation and the evolution of the celebrations that followed from 1865 to present day, including efforts to establish Juneteenth as a national holiday.
This zoom talk will be on Tuesday, February 20^th at noon.
